Traffic Rules on the Yarramundi reach

This is a heads up regarding some refinements to training flows on the 1800 metre course, decided at an Rowing ACT meeting last night.

Over the next few weeks, the upgrade to our new seven lane course will be completed.

Lanes will be numbered from 1, the most westerly, to 7 the closest to Weston peninsula.

Crews and scullers are permitted to travel South (i.e. from Finish to Start) in lane 1 or to the West of lane 1 (lane 1 replaces the former transit “lane zero”, in the old course)

No crews are to train in either direction in lane 2, ever. Large buoys will eventually be placed in lane 2 to “reinforce” this rule.

So Lane 2 is an empty lane.

You will be allowed to travel North (from Start to Finish) in lanes 3-7.

Please observe these rules and exercise great care, especially until the buoying work is completed and remember that it may take some rowers a little while to get used to the new system. Therefore keep a good look out.

There will also be some refinements to the regatta traffic flow for this weekend and thereafter. Reverse flow will be in force at regattas but with an altered travel pattern and crossover zone very close to the finish line.
At regattas there will be a gate keeper who will guide finishing traffic, and also direct those crews crossing over to progress to the start.

Details will follow regarding regatta flow.
