CAUTION: Interstate Rowers on the Lake

Over the next three weeks there will be a number of interstate clubs and schools making the journey to Canberra to train on Lake Burley Griffin.

Clubs and Schools hosting such programs have been asked to assist in taking a proactive role in educating visitors on local conditions and traffic flows.

We would like to ask all local rowers of all skill level to assist during this period. By following a few simple procedures we are hopeful we can reach the end of this period incident free.

Firstly we must all remain aware of the increased traffic on the lake over the next few weeks. We ask that all rowers remain cautious and keep a good look out on all areas of the lake and at all times.

Furthermore we ask all rowers on the lake to remain patient. If indeed one does spot a visiting rower or crew not complying with rules we encourage all locals to offer polite advice on correct procedures. It is important that everyone takes a proactive role however it is equally important to ensure this is done tactfully. In most cases visiting rowers will be young, less experienced rowers. More often than not these rowers will not react well to criticism or abuse and in most cases will not take on board the underlying message.

We thank all rowers for their assistance.
