National Under 23 Selection Trials

National selection trials are being held on Yarramundi Reach from Saturday to Wednesday in the mornings from 8am till 4pm. It is requested that crews keep off the bouyed course and that coaches do not take tinnies into Yarramundi Reach.

These selection trials are largely for US based Australian students to get into the Under 23 team. Some of the rowing will be of International standard. Spectating at Weston Park is recommended.

Review of the Head of the Lake Regatta

Dear Clubs,

The Board of Rowing ACT has implemented a Review of the Federal Head of the Lake Regatta and has appointed a three person expert panel to conduct the Review.

The following Terms of Reference will be considered by the Review Panel:

  1. The best possible business model to ensure that the ACT Head of the Lake Regatta becomes a leading Regatta for Schools on the Rowing Australia Calendar, including promotion and engagement with ACT and interstate schools, facility requirements, revenue options including seat-fee and merchandising settings and opportunities for sponsorship from the corporate and government sectors.

Annual BRO Appreciation Dinner

The annual BRO appreciation dinner was held over the recent long weekend at the Canberra Yacht Club.  Thank you to all of our BROs and volunteers who made the past season possible.

Head of the Lake Medal Design Competition Announced – closing 15 August 2018

 

Rowing ACT has announced a medal design competition for Head of the Lake competitors with prize monies totalling $1,800.  This is in response to the strong wish expressed by schools for the 2018 event to have its own medal rather than using the normal regatta medal for places.  The 2018 Head of the Lake event was held in March attracting around 600 crew.  It was very successful and attracted good press coverage with the Canberra Times reporting that students from Canberra Girls Grammar, Canberra Grammar, Daramalan, Radford and Marist were leading the local contingent.

Vacancy: Head of Rowing – Canberra Grammar School

Canberra Grammar School is looking to employ a Head of Rowing in a full-time capacity to lead the CGS Rowing programme. It is expected that this role will be primarily undertaken in Terms 1, 3 and 4; in Term 2 tasks will be redirected towards the Winter Co-curricular and/or Academic programmes.

The annual Rowing ACT Presentation was held on 8 April to celebrate the highly successful 2018 season.

Congratulations to all medallists, trophy winners and pennant winners (a full list of winners is attached), as well as all of the rowers, coxswains, coaches, boat race officials, volunteers and supporters who participated throughout the season!  We look forward to another successful season ahead, with Winter Time Trials just around the corner

Attention all school leavers – we need to know what you think.

We would like to invite current and former school rowers/coxswains and school leavers aged 16-25 to participate in a Rowing ACT survey. The survey consists of 15 questions and should take around 5 minutes to complete.
