Other lake users are asked to minimise speedboat wash to give scullers the best chance to post a competitive time. Participants in the trial will be carrying a bow number and will be in lane 7.

There will be a similar trial for our junior rowers from the 1000m mark on Wednesday morning 29th January which will also commence at 7:00am.

Your cooperation in ensuring fair conditions for everyone would be greatly appreciated.

The annual Australia Day Bridge to Bridge race will again be held on Lake Burley Griffin as part of the Australia Day Festival. This year due to a compressed evening schedule and to make the most of more suitable water conditions we have selected to conduct the race in the morning.

Racing between mixed (4 men & 4 women) eights only will commence at approximately 8:40am. Fancy dress is encouraged.

While formal entries are not required, clubs are to advise expected entries to actra@rowingact.org.au by 6pm Monday 23rd January to assist with BRO control and safety. No entry fees apply.

Crews are asked to marshal on the western side of Commonwealth Avenue Bridge at 8:20am. A pre-race briefing will take place shortly after. All crews will then proceed into Central Basin to Kings Avenue Bridge and then race upon return.

To participate get a mixed crew of 9 together, ask your club to register your crew and decide on your fancy dress theme. It will be great fun.

Canberra Boys Grammar will be commencing their rowing camp on Monday 20 January. We will be conducting a time trial from 6:20am Monday on the race course.

Please limit your wash if possible when going up and down the course.

Thank you for your help.

Over the next three weeks there will be a number of interstate clubs and schools making the journey to Canberra to train on Lake Burley Griffin.

Clubs and Schools hosting such programs have been asked to assist in taking a proactive role in educating visitors on local conditions and traffic flows.

We would like to ask all local rowers of all skill level to assist during this period. By following a few simple procedures we are hopeful we can reach the end of this period incident free.

Firstly we must all remain aware of the increased traffic on the lake over the next few weeks. We ask that all rowers remain cautious and keep a good look out on all areas of the lake and at all times.

Furthermore we ask all rowers on the lake to remain patient. If indeed one does spot a visiting rower or crew not complying with rules we encourage all locals to offer polite advice on correct procedures. It is important that everyone takes a proactive role however it is equally important to ensure this is done tactfully. In most cases visiting rowers will be young, less experienced rowers. More often than not these rowers will not react well to criticism or abuse and in most cases will not take on board the underlying message.

We thank all rowers for their assistance.
