The results of yesterdays regatta have been published and can be found here. The first two hours of the regatta had light to no wind, and then it picked up to 35-40 kpm/h with gusts to 50. This resulted in some races being shortened and running starts from the 1500m start. Triathlon ACT has advised that a swim leg of a triathlon will be held on Tarcoola Reach on Sunday 7 December. It will have a buoyed course outside the Radford boatshed that will enable traffic on the water to go around it. The swim will be 09:00-10:00. They will also be conducting a cycling race on Lady Denman Drive which will result in a road closure from 08:45 until 10:00. The road closure will prevent access to/from Black Mountain peninsula 08:45-10:00. Radford Regatta – Draw and Programme updates The programme for Saturday’s big regatta can be found here. An updated draw (only showing scratchings and slight changes) can be found here. A regatta instruction has also been issued.

The draw for next Saturday’s regatta is available here. Daramalan Regatta – results published The results of the shortened Daramalan Regatta can be found here.

A pair of spectacles were found at Yarramundi Reach spectator area last Saturday. If you wish to get them back, please contact the ACTRA office. 2009 Australian University Rowing Championships in Canberra The Australian University Sport Rowing Advisory Group has agreed to hold the next AURC event on Yarramundi Reach. The likely date is the weekend around 06 October 2009. This will be the fourth time in the 139 year history of the Australian University Rowing Championships that they have been held in Canberra. The previous occasions being 1970, 1980 and 1996. A detailed history of the Championships, including results from 1870, can be found here.

The remaining races from last Saturday’s regatta that were not run due to the weather will NOT be run this coming weekend. There have been some discussions on this, but it is not possible to organise. See your club for refunds or credits of seat fees. Radford Regatta – Call for Entries The last regatta before the new year is on 06 December and entries close this weekend with your club. The same list of events is offered as was for the Daramalan Regatta.

The threatened lowering of the lake level will occur tomorrow to allow maintenance at Commonwealth Place. The drop is expected to be 7 to 10cm and the storms forecast for the next few days should return the lake level to normal.

A large lake swimming event is being held this coming Sunday in Yarralumla area. The event starts and finishes at the beach to the east of Yarralumla Bay and takes up the area across to the white posts at Weston Park, half way across to Black Mountain Peninsula and to Blue Gum Point. Rowing to and from Yarralumla Bay will be very difficult.

A revised list of events has been issued for the next ACTRA regatta, hosted by Daramalan College. The new list has additional entries to better allow the regatta software to cope with the combinations of entries. This should avoid most of the problems that occurred with entries to the first regatta. ACTAS NTC Time Trial – Saturday 06:45 to 08:00 Note that a time trial will be run between 06:45 and 08:00 on Saturday morning. Please keep the route between the AIS and Kingston Boat Harbour free of boats and wash during this period. Lake Burley Griffin Traffic Rules There have been some complaints lodged about rowers ignoring LBG traffic rules (poster) on Yarramundi Reach in particular. Although the rules have no legal status, they prevent serious injury and damage caused by collisions. Please pay attention to your position on the lake, and ensure others are told of the rules before any serious incident occurs.
