Lake Burley Griffin Algae Situation

The National Capital Authority’s closure of LBG on 12 February still stands. As an NCA official is quoted “Warning signs are posted around the lake and users and the public are advised not to come into contact with the water until further notice. All algal blooms should be treated with extreme caution”. The NCA will be testing the water again today and Wednesday, with the results announced the following day. As for the ISRA Regatta last weekend, ACTRA will be making an announcement whether this Saturday’s regatta can go ahead based on these tests and appropriate risk minimisation arrangements. During the week, rowers should take care and make their decisions on lake use based on the NCA advice, and club policies on safety.
