Rowing Australia announced National teams for the Under 23 and Under 21 competitions and the ACT has good representation in several crews. These athletes join Hannah Every-Hall (Canberra Rowing Club) who will compete in the Olympic Qualification Regatta at Lucerne in May to qualify for the Olympics, and World Champion Kathryn Ross (ANU) who will compete in the Para Olympics Trunk and Arms Mixed Double.

Today’s announcement lists Luke Letcher (Black Mountain) and Caleb Antill (ANU) in the Men’s under 23 Quad Scull, and Cara Grzeskowiak in the Women’s Under 23 Single, to compete in the World Championships in Rotterdam in August. All three scullers are part of the next generation of rowers who can step up to Olympic places after Rio.

Under 21 sculler Tyron Boorman (Black Mountain) will compete in the Trans Tasman Challenge against New Zealand. The kiwis are always tough competition and this regatta is a great stepping stone for athletes transitioning from junior ranks.

The recently arrived Sydney student Romola Davenport, who rows for ANU locally, has also been selected in an Australian Women’s under 19 quad. Romola is an ANU student and we look forward to her progress through the future.

Head coach Andrew Randell should be pleased with these results, and that local coaches have also been selected. Andrew has been announced as coach of the Olympic women’s double, Vicky Spencer is coaching Cara, Rene Domaschenz is coaching the Under 21 women and Gordon Marcks is coaching Kathryn’s Para double.

Great results for Andrew and his team of ACTAS coaches.

I am the second owner and bought it in 2014 from the AIS where it had minimal use. The boat is in great condition and has served me very well over the past few years. There are some very minor chips and marks as you’d expect from a boat it’s age. It hasn’t been crashed or repaired in any way and is ready to be rowed. Inspections welcome and won’t disappoint.
