Gordon Marcks, the head rowing coach of the ACT Academy of Sport, announced the ACT Youth Cup squad today. These athletes are to represent the ACT at the Youth Cup Regatta 10-12 July at SIRC, Penrith. The squad, including reserves, is:

The National Capital Authority hasdeclared a total closure of Lake Burley Griffin for recreational use due to the levels of blue-green algae. You can read the the notification here. A good time for boat and shed maintenance it seems.

The latest edition of the ARN has been published by Rowing Australia here. Rowing World Cup and Championship Regattas viewed on internet Rowing Australia has negotiated a deal with WCSN for discounted subscription to view its streaming and video on demand service of sports events. Annual subscriptions can have a 33% discount, and your rowing club can receive a cash back for each member who signs up. Details can be found at the RA website, or WCSN themselves.


The provisional results of this weekends time trials are available here: Saturday; Sunday. The Saturday results are now on version 3 (20:30) for today having previously missed some competitors. The next time trial is being run on the weekend of 20-21 June. Entries through your club, and on time please.


The ACT Rowing Association announces the appointment of Jason Cain (CGS), Simon Leonard (CRC) and Chris Polyichanin (CRC) as coaches for the ACT Youth Cup squad.


The start lists for this weekend’s first round of winter time trials have been published: Saturday; Sunday. Note that the time trials start at 09:00 on each day – NOT 09:30 as previously published.


The first ACT Winter Time Trial is on the weekend of 23-24 May and entries through your club close with ACTRA on the evening of Sunday, 17 May – earlier with your club. Note that this time trial:

  • Forms part of the ACT Youth Cup selection process.
  • Has entries closing on the weekend of the NSW Masters Rowing Championships.

ACTRA has published the Youth Cup selection and regatta information here [2.6Mb pdf] Australian Rowing Championships – Bulletin #3 published Bulletin #3 for the 2009 Australian Masters Rowing Championships being held in Rockhampton from 28 to 31 May 2009. Entries close at 23:00 EST on Thursday 14 May 2009 (earlier with your club who has to submit them), no late entries will be accepted.
