URGENT

BOAT RACE OFFICIALS REQUIRED

With the start of the Regatta season on 5 November, ACTRA must again appeal to all clubs for nominations for Boat Race Officials. The current active BRO list is hereunder and it highlights some alarming lack of support from a minority of clubs to this most critical element of our sport. This list indicates ACTIVE Race Official's who participate or are available for roster, on not less than 3 regattas's a season.

I need not remind clubs that without the support and services of our volunteer Boat Race Officials there would be no regatta's and without the participation of ALL clubs in nominating officials, the responsibilities fall on to few shoulders with resultant burn out and loss of expertise to the sport.

May I remind members that there are several advantages available to Boat Race Officials:

  • Free Training and Boat License.
  • Free uniform.
  • The availability of the famous "Rick Warboys" pontoon regatta breakfast.
  • Free regatta Lunch and coffee/refreshments.
  • View racing from a unique viewpoint and enjoy a morning on the water.

Our current numbers are dangerously low placing added stress and commitment on the above active officials.

ACCORDINGLY I seek nominations from all clubs, particularly those poorly represented in the above table for Boat Race Officials for the upcoming season.

Clubs or members are asked to submit nominations for the upcoming season to , Coordinator Boat Race Officials or his able assistant (m:0412  268 753), as a matter of urgency.

I remind clubs that ACTRA has, under its rules and regulations, the capacity to penalise affiliated clubs who do not contribute in sufficient numbers to the pool of volunteer Boat Race Officials.

The Management Committee has no wish or desire to enact these regulations and looks to ALL CLUBS to honour their responsibilities to the sport and our regatta program.
