The Col Panton Marathon is held annually to kick-off
the ACTRA summer regatta season (October each year). The event
is named after rowers Colin (Leslie) Panton and his son Colin
(Stuart) who tragically drowned in Lake Burley Griffin on 26
November 1964.
The marathon is a handicap event for all boat classes, commencing
at the Kingston Boat Harbour and finishing at the tree house
in Weston Park - a distance of approximately 8 km.
